Milaidhoo has a variety of activities each day, including half-day outings to adjacent reefs, fishing experiences, and sunset cruises, all of which are charged extra. They also feature a spa, with treatment rooms placed in secluded overwater bungalows with views of the fish-filled shallows below. A one-hour massage costs around $A300.
So... was it all worth it?
To estimate the value of a vacation is a fundamentally difficult issue to answer since everyone's budget and desires varies when it comes to a much-needed escape. After three years without a break, the answer for me was yes - with a few qualifiers.
The meal and drinks were, predictably, exorbitantly priced, despite being of generally high quality. Barring an unlucky encounter with a nasty oyster (which, to be honest, should not have happened at a premium resort), the cuisine was fresh, flavorful, and varied well among the three main restaurant selections.
Escort also has the first Connaught Place escort services Ba'theli, which is spread over three traditional bathe boats anchored permanently offshore, and it was a must-see for anybody looking to sample Maldivian cuisine in a high-end environment.
While the spa was a bit pricey, the treatments were of high quality, and our snorkeling tour was fantastic, with an abundance of colorful tropical fish, turtles, reef sharks, and rays.
Yet, what you are paying for here are the service and the setting. The service was exceptional; the moment you arrive in the Maldives, a representative greets you and guides you through the whole procedure, from checking onto the seaplane aircraft to your hotel.
